Dr. Vishal Bansal joined the Division of Trauma/Surgical Critical Care/Burns on July 2006 as a surgical critical care fellow. Dr. Bansal completed his general surgery residency and research fellowship at the University of Pittsburgh. During his surgical critical care fellowship at the UCSD Medical Center he contributed greatly by presenting lectures, writing several papers, and providing excellence in general surgery, trauma surgery and critical care. As of July 7, 2007 Dr. Bansal became a permanent member of the Elite Team, the UCSD Regional Trauma Center. Dr. Bansal was awarded the prestigious John H. Davis Research Scholarship award by the American Association for the Surgery of Trauma. His clinical research interest includes trauma outcome and prevention, with basic science interest in post-trauma immunology and resuscitative immune modulation.
